The other day, I was thinking about how much I hate my seatbelt, and I thought about why we need seatbelts. Seatbelts help us from following our inertia through the windsheild when our car is impacted from the front or back. Well, if the only thing that is holding us back is inertia, then why don’t we just counteract it?
When we are not accelerating, we do not need our seatbelts because all of the gravitational forces (g-forces) that can pull on us are in balance; but when we accelerate (speed up, slow down, or turn) the g-forces are out of balance and we (the driver or passengers) move. If you speed up, you go back, if you turn left, you go right, etc. So what if we could invent a device that would create it’s own g-forces that could instantaneously sense and counteract the g’s that you experince? We wouldn’t need seatbelts anymore, amongst other things – a lot of things.
When you are walking on the sidewalk, gravity is holding you down. What if you could wear one of these gravity producing machines and it could counteract gravity enough so you could hover? Not only could you “float” in the air – at any height you wanted – but anything could float and move by simply adding gravity where needed. We wouldn’t need oil anymore, hybrid cars, or even hydrogen energy. All we would have to do is harness the force that we interact every second of our lives.
Think about it, gravity pulls you down at 9.81 m/s^2. You have your anti-gravity machine push you up at 10.81 m/s^2 and you are moving upwards at 1 m/s^2. It’s simple vectors. You could have this machine hooked up to a joystick in your car (a car that wouldn’t need wheels, an engine, or most other moving parts) and this joystick is hooked up to the anti-gravity machine. However hard you push the joystick foward is how much the the anti-gravity machine counteracts gravity. This kind of invention would change every aspect of the world.
But can it be done? Not quite yet. We don’t even know what gravity is or where it comes from. We have theories, but no hard evidence. One day, we will harness the power to munipulate our own gravity and move things anywhere we want, without using conventional energy.
